High potential and gifted education
Some students learn faster and more easily than others. These students may shine in creativity, thinking, leadership or sport.
At Arndell School, we recognise and nurture these strengths. We support advanced learners with engaging lessons and meaningful opportunities to help them grow and thrive.
High potential and gifted education at Arndell
Supporting High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) is part of our everyday practice at Arndell. Our staff recognise that high potential can present in many different ways, and we embrace a shared lens for identifying and nurturing talent in students with complex learning and wellbeing needs.
We are committed to ensuring that every student has the opportunity to thrive. Our teachers use technology and flexible approaches to learning that allow students to explore their interests, demonstrate their strengths, and build confidence in new and creative ways.
Arndell offers a range of whole-school programs designed to support student growth, including enrichment, extension, and extra-curricular opportunities in areas such as music, art, sport, and STEM. Within the classroom, teachers use evidence-informed practices to identify students’ learning needs and provide differentiated pathways that challenge and extend each learner. This may include enrichment and extension programs or acceleration where appropriate.
We do this through:
- effective teaching strategies like enrichment, extension and acceleration
- tailored support during lessons that stretch, challenge and inspire
- access to a wide range of opportunities
Our supportive classroom environments promote belonging, creativity, and collaboration, encouraging students to take risks, try new things, and discover what they are capable of achieving.
Arndell staff engage in ongoing professional learning to strengthen their understanding of HPGE and to ensure that the diverse needs of all students — including those with high potential — are recognised, valued, and supported through purposeful teaching and meaningful learning experiences.
